Using the PrintWhere driver

Can I send a print job from home and print it in the Library?
Yes.  You can use the web printing option or the print driver and send a print job to the library printers from another location on campus, from home, etc. Note that your print job will only stay in the list pool for at most 2 hours.

I can't find my print job in the print list?
When you submit a print job, a status window is displayed. Closing this window before the request is completed may cause the print job to be cancelled. This happens when you need to accept the cost or confirm that the number of pages are correct, but fail to respond to this query.

Can I print landscape documents?
In order to print landscape the document itself must be set up as landscape. The printer driver is unable to change the file to landscape. If the desired print job is in any of the Microsoft Office format (e.g., .doc, .xml, .ppt, etc.), go to 'File' then 'Page Setup'. You can change the layout to landscape under the 'Orientation' section.

What should I enter for a User Name?
In the User Name box, enter everything that precedes the @ symbol in your email address. For example, if your email address is jsmith@uwaterloo.ca, you would enter jsmith.

Can I print single or double sided?
Yes, the default setting is double sided.  See the instructions for single sided printing if needed.

I can't see the 'OK' button when I'm searching/adding a printing.
If you are experiencing the situation as shown in the screenshot below, one of the possible reasons is that your computer is set to use 120dpi (larger fonts) than normal, and printeron does not get on well with that.
To get it installed, you:

The print dialoug itself works fine in any font size, just the install part will only work under Normal Size (90 DPI) therefore you are free to change it back after installation.

Using the Online (Web) Printing Service

Why can't I print a web page?
Documents on the web or web pages that you try and print must be visible to the printing service. If you needed to log in to a site, then the print service will not be able to print that document. Download the document to print first, or save the web page as HTML, then try printing the saved document.

I can't see the progress window when I try to print through the Online Printing Service.
The online printing service page opens a small job progress window after a print request is submitted. If you have a browser "pop-up" killer enabled, these status windows may not display, and your request may not be completed. Temporarily disabling the pop up killer should solve this problem.

Can I send a print job from home and print it in the Library?
Yes.  You can use the web printing option or the print driver and send a print job to the library printers from another location on campus, from home, etc. Note that your print job will only stay in the list pool for at most 2 hours.

Can I print files in any format?
The campus printing service will only attempt to print documents that it supports. You may be able to save your document as a supported file format before printing.

Can I print multiple file documents?
Some documents are constructed of several files, with the application assembling the complete document from many pieces (some examples include CAD xrefs, saved web pages, linked sheets in Excel, and linked graphics in Word).
Since the Online Printing Service deals with a single file, the missing files will either not appear or generate an error, depending on the file type. Try saving your document in a consolidated "single file" format, rather than as a collection of files, and resubmit.

Why are there missing/wrong characters?
The servers handling your print requests have a wide range of commonly used TrueType fonts installed. If your documents rely on custom or unusual font faces, international font sets, or fonts in other formats (such as PostScript or AutoCAD fonts), then the Online Printing Service will attempt to make reasonable substitutions, but cannot guarantee results.

What is session time out?
In order the protect your network identity, the Online Printing Service will time out and disconnect your session if there is no print activity for several minutes. If you are asked to approve a print job, you must respond within the time out period. Active status windows that are updating the progress of a print job keep your session active.

What do I enter for the Login ID?
In the Login ID box, enter everything that precedes the @ symbol in your email address. For example, if your email address is jsmith@uwaterloo.ca, you would enter jsmith.

How do I 'Print to PDF' ? (For Mac users)
In powerpoint specifically

In Word specifically

Print the resulting PDF file normally using the printeron web printing service.
In any program, mac users can print to a PDF using the same technique (clicking the PDF button in the lower right corner) and then print that PDF… however in most cases this is just a needless step.

Can I print with a Handheld Computer (PDA)?
The laptop printing service does not directly support printing from your Pocket PC, BlackBerry, or Palm OS handheld computer.
