Requests from non-uWaterloo people to connect a laptop to the university network.

Access to the University of Waterloo network is controlled by IST.

• Eduroam is a collaborative network that enables students, staff and faculty of a member institution to connect to the wireless network at any partner institution using the same credentials (for example: username and password) as they do at their home institution. There are instructions from IST for the first steps in setting up your computer at uWaterloo.
• Unauthenticated guest access to the uWaterloo network (UW-guest) is available within the library but not all resources are available through it.

Visitors wanting something very quick and simple:

• Anyone desiring simple access to the web may do so from public workstations in the library.
• Anyone wanting to print something from a laptop could transfer the document to one of the library's public workstations using a memory device such as a CD-ROM, or USB key and print from there. Other people have had success sending the document to their Gmail account and accessing that from the public workstations.
• The person will still need to purchase a guest copy card (Available at the circulation desks in the Davis and Dana Porter Libraries) to print.

Longer-lasting accounts for visiting scholars, post doctoral fellows, new faculty and staff, and people in joint programmes are created manually by IST. IST needs enough information to establish a unique individual, birth date, office location, department, etc. Requests should go to:
