General Comments and Requests for More Information
Responses to the question: "What would you like to see added or changed on the Electronic Journals pages?"
As well, I think there should be more clarification as to which journals can actually be found in our library so that we don't waste time looking up journals that we cannot access in the library. Perhaps a search engine that just searches journals at UW and gives us the listing with their call number so that they are easier to find.
Also often a book is listed not available when it is and vice versa
More instruction on how to get a complete article from a journal that is available through the Social science index (silver platter)
Ensure that all "book-library" entries contain the proper link to the electronic format. Be very careful about the licenses that the libraries sign. I can request an article from another of the TUG school and receive it IF the journal is on print-paper format. Some licenses do not allow this! I fear that in moving from paper to electronic we are losing some of the rights obtained by purchasing paper journals.
Access to table of contents
I would like to see a short description about each of the journal databases. Just something to let people know about the content of each one.
Easier access to page with all journal titles with the symbol beside them
I would like an indication of whether the journal is avilable in the library instead of having to look it up in TUG. Also providing suggestions of other articles which are similar (see also indicator) would make searching easier.
Link it to Pubmed so that we can directly access electronic journal articles from our literature searches in Pubmed
More compatability with Reference Manager, w.r.t. downloading the reference. Perhaps it could be formatted correctly so that the user doesn't have to edit the filter. For instance all the Elsevier journals I've ever downloaded have the Abstract tagged as the Note field. Seems difficult to get a list of all the journals that are included in the search of a certain database. Georef for instance.
Updates posted regarding access to journals which have been added or removed, or regarding access to journals which has be altered
A link or a reference of the call number in the trellis library if the journal exists in hard-copy
I liked it much better the old way, this is confusing and takes much longer!
