Our Response to General Comments and Requests for More Information

In this rapidly developing information society, providing a clear consistent path to materials, both print and electronic, is a constant struggle for every library.

At the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Guelph, we rely on the Library Catalogue, TRELLIS as the complete authoritative database of our library collections in print and electronic. We have also developed Web pages, such as the Ejournals page which provides a searchable "short cut" to titles of full text ejournals. We are continuing to develop and enhance these Web pages but TRELLIS will always be the source of complete, detailed information and should be used when that depth of information is needed.

We sign licences to provide access to full text ejournals and other electronic resources, such as journal indexes. In some cases, this restricts access to one institution instead of every institution in TUG. Interlibrary Loan/ Document Delivery services will continue to obtain articles that cannot be directly accessed. On a positive note -- the development of electronic products has led to many consortial deals which has actually increased and enhanced our collections. See the news about the Canadian National Site Licensing Project.

Many of you are struggling with navigating within a publisher's site, linking from those sites to TUG specific information, and downloading information for your own use. If you have specific problems or questions, please feel free to contact any of us in the Ejournals Group.
