  1. University of Waterloo Library Mission Statement

    The University of Waterloo contributes to the achievement of the University's goals by collaborating with other members of the University Community in teaching, research, learning and service.

    The Library is committed to the following values:

    • lifelong self-directed learning
    • equitable access

    • confidentiality of access and records

    Client needs are primary, and it is the goal of the Library to enable our clients to become:

    Staff is the Library's greatest resource and it is the goal of the Library to enable them to become:

    • client-focussed and empowered
    • innovative and flexible

    The Library recruits, develops and deploys staff and provides the appropriate infrastructure to:

    • identify the information needs of the user community
    • relate those needs to available information resources
    • provide access to those information resources
    • facilitate the productive and efficient use of those resources
