Borrow Books

Books located in the University of Waterloo Library

You can submit requests for books from the University of Waterloo Library by sending an email message to libdist@library.uwaterloo.ca. In your message, please include the following:

Complete details about the items (author/title/call no.)
Mailing address and telephone number
Student I.D. number

Books located in other TUG libraries (University of Guelph and Wilfrid Laurier):

You can submit requests for books that are located in the other TUG libraries by using the recall and hold functions. To do thiis:

Locate the book in PRIMO
Click on the Locations link to place a hold or recall an item
When the holdings page opens, click on the link "Sign in to place a hold or recall"
Choose Recall for a book that is signed out to another user and Hold for a book that is available

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO ENSURE THE ITEM IS SENT TO YOU:

In the request form you must make sure that you do the following:

In the "Comment" box, include your complete mailing address and telephone number
In the "Pickup Location" box, select "UW Distance Ed. and Co-op" from the drop-down menu

Returning books to TUG Libraries

By mail: While we pay the cost of sending (by courier when possible) the book to you, you pay the cost of returning it to us. Send books to:

Waterloo, ON N2L 3G1
If the postal stamp is on or before the due date, we will consider that the book was returned by the due date. If the postal stamp is later than the due date, you will incur overdue fines.
Dropoff: If you live near another Ontario University, you may drop off the books at the Circulation Desk of that library and they will be returned to us by an Inter University Transit Service. Consult the OCUL Directory for universities near you.
