Guidelines
Noise
The Davis Centre Library is divided into three zones that are colour-coded beige (silent study zone), green (quiet study zone), and grey (group study zone).
- Silent study zone: no talking. Cell phones set to silent.
Main floor: study carrels at far left corner; Silent Study room; Peter Sims Silent Study area
- Quiet study zone: low volume conversation. Cell phones set to vibrate.
Main floor: RBC Information Commons; study carrels middle of library; study rooms A-E
Lower floor: lounge area, study room 0505
- Group study zone: moderate volume conversation. Cell phones set to vibrate.
Main floor: Study rooms F, M, and N
Lower floor: group study tables
Food and drink
- Drinks in containers with lids are allowed
- Messy and odorous food are not allowed anywhere in the library
Cell phones
- Before entering the library, please set your cell phone to silent or vibrate (see the noise guidelines above)
- Make or receive calls in the Great Hall (outside Library)
If you disregard these guidelines, you may be asked to leave the library. If you are escorted out of the library by police on more than one occasion, your library privileges will be suspended until the end of the term.
Appeals can be made in writing to Sarah Martin or Jennifer Haas and will be considered on a case by case basis.
