John Herbert Papers.
The John Herbert papers were acquired in 1982 and cover a total of 15 linear feet. The archive represents a major resource for the student of Herbert's work and provides a unique insight into the development of Canadian drama from the late 1950's to the present day.
Herbert's notes on the folders of many of his manuscripts, programmes and photos often tell a great deal about the particular item. These notes have been left intact and will provide a great deal of useful information for the scholar.
The Library has published a detailed finding aid to the collection: A Guide to the John Herbert Papers in the University of Waterloo Library, compiled by Susan Bellingham, with an introduction by Stuart MacKinnon (Waterloo: University of Waterloo Library, 1984).
