In 1862 Andrew Bell Jardine, a native of Scotland, visited Hespeler, Ont. where he shortly thereafter moved his family and started a small foundry. This was the A.B. Jardine Co., one of the pioneer industries of the area.

The fonds consists of 18 items, dating from 1797 to 1927, relating to members of the Jardine family. The two pieces of correspondence and fourteen documents help to outline some of the family's history both in Scotland and in Hespeler, including marriage certificates, character references, articles of partnership, etc. The surname on documents of Scottish origin is spelled variously as "Jardin", "Jordan" or "Jardine".

Title based on contents of the fonds.

The fonds was purchased by R. MacGillivray of the History Department in 1966 for the University of Waterloo Library, and includes the leather case the documents were found in.
