The Kitchener-Waterloo Record Photographic Negative Collection is a rich resource of visual documentation for historians, genealogists and members of the public at large.
This collection of over 2 million negatives of photographs taken from 1938 up to and including 2001 constitutes the photographic archives of the Kitchener-Waterloo Record available in the Doris Lewis Rare Book Room. Photographs used by the Kitchener-Waterloo Record, but not taken by Kitchener-Waterloo Record staff photographers, are not included in the collection.
The photographs document a wide variety of activities, such as news events, community activities, new construction, human interest stories, and sports. Portraits of business and community leaders, as well as advertising photographs are included.
Scrapbooks that contain pictures taken from 1971 to 1995 are also available for consultation in the Doris Lewis Rare Book Room.
