Souvenir of Berlin, ca. 1895.
This album, measuring 14 x 19 cm, was published by F.I. Weaver of Berlin around 1895. It contains photomechanical prints produced by ‘photogravure’, an intaglio printmaking process in which metal plates are chemically prepared and then etched to form cells of varying depth to hold different amounts of ink. The photogravures in this album depict scenes and buildings around Berlin, and are bound together with a ribbon.
