Commit to Academic Integrity

Integrity is based on the fundamental values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility. Academic integrity expresses these values in educational and scholarly activities.

Authentic participation in the University of Waterloo community is guided by the principles of academic integrity.

Failure to meet the standards of the Waterloo community is academic misconduct and subject to penalties, as outlined in University policies.

Plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration, fabrication and falsification are examples of academic misconduct.

We ask you to understand the meaning of academic integrity, to be alert to the varieties of misconduct, to be familiar with University policies, and to respect the academic endeavour.

We ask you to commit to integrity as a student at the University of Waterloo.
