Largest Challenge Grant Awarded to a Canadian Library
The Library has been awarded a $750,000 Challenge Grant from the US-based Kresge Foundation. This grant is the largest awarded to an academic library in Canada. The ‘challenge’ is that we must raise $2.8 million by the end of 2006. All funds raised will be directed toward renovation projects within the Libraries. Our staff have been working tremendously hard to make this happen. In fact, 92% of library staff are donating funds to help us meet the goal. Over the next two months we will be working closely with the campus community, UW alumni, businesses, and other friends to help us meet the Challenge.
