LIBRARY UPDATE

winter '09

Welcome to the Latest Library Update

Mark Haslett, University LibrarianAs we plan for the future in challenging times, the Library is focusing its efforts in three strategic areas: student experience, space, and e-initiatives. This issue of Library Update focuses on the first one – student experience – and highlights the Library’s recent efforts to support student success here at Waterloo.

In UW’s sixth decade plan, we emphasize that the Library “will continue to foster and be a model of collaboration, connectedness, and partnerships.” Strengthening our relationship with students is where it begins.

In this issue, you will learn about some of the Library’s student-driven initiatives and will hear from faculty, staff, and the students themselves about how the Library is creating and maintaining strong student connections.

Highlights include a spotlight on the recently developed Academic Integrity Tutorial, profiles of some of our students, and a plethora of facts and figures highlighting the student and library connection.

Made possible through the generous support of many, this renovation has transformed the floor into a space students are already describing as “welcoming,” “amazing,” and “like home.”

Enjoy.
