Faculty and graduate students are increasingly asking about “open access.” What is it and how can it help them?
Open access describes scholarly literature freely available online that can be copied, distributed, and used with proper attribution. Benefits to researchers include greater exposure for their research and potential higher citation impact.
In the fall of 2011 the Library launched
an Open Access FAQ and website to more
broadly inform Waterloo researchers about
the benefits of open access: subjectguides.uwaterloo.ca/openaccess.
