LAUW's Librarian to Librarian ... Call for Volunteers

Are you willing to lend an ear to a fellow LAUW member? LAUW Exec is always looking for seasoned/semi-seasoned librarians to participate in Librarian to Librarian (L2L). As a volunteer you would make yourself available to meet informally with another LAUW member to listen and offer your experience on library/career-related matters. Meetings are entirely confidential and are not meant to be extensive or controversial. Your advice is not binding in any way.

So think about it. It's a valuable service you'd be providing, a great way to contribute to the profession.

“Do I qualify to volunteer?”

You are likely an ideal volunteer if you …

  • have been working as a librarian for 5 or more years
  • have advanced beyond a Librarian III
  • have a desire to help your colleagues
  • are able to keep discussions confidential
  • are able to recognize when not to give advice and refer colleagues to experts

“What kind of commitment would it take to be a volunteer?”

We ask that volunteers commit to 1 or 2 year terms. Renewals are possible. We anticipate volunteers might have 2-3 sessions a year.

"Yes, I'm interested in volunteering. What next?"

Simply indicate your interest to any member of the LAUW Executive. We will be maintaining a roster of volunteers on an ongoing basis.
