Note: the following instructions were developed on a Windows based system using Internet Explorer version 7.0.
- Conduct your search.
- View the citation in full format. Click on Display in BibTeX format.
- If you have multiple records to import, copy and paste the results into a document and Save As a plain text (.txt) file on your computer.
- Log in to RefWorks
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select BibTeX as the data source and ACM Digital Library as the database.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- Click Import.

- Conduct your search.
- View the citation in full format. Click on Display in BibTeX format.
- Copy and paste the results into a document and Save As a plain text (.txt) file on your computer.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select BibTeX as the data source and ACM Digital Library as the database.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- Click Import.

For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click Download Citations.
- In the Select Citation Manager/File Format, choose RefWorks and click the Download button.
- Click Download Article Citation Data.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Under Select Records (at the bottom of the page) choose which records to export.
- From the Select Format drop-down, select Full Record.
- Click on Format for Print or Save button.
- Using your browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Select Text as the file type.
- Click Save.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select Endeavor Voyager as the data source and Agricola as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

- Conduct your search (browse a particular journal or search for articles).
- If Browsing a journal issue, mark the records you want to export to RefWorks by clicking the checkbox. If searching for an article, you must select the article you would like to export by clicking on the title.
- When exporting from a full journal issue, click on Download to Citation Manager. If you have conducted an article search, click on Download to Citation Manager, under the quick links.
- Choose your preferred format (e.g citation and abstract) and RefWorks as the citation manager.
- Click on Download Chapter Metadata
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

Note: Pop-ups must be enabled to export to RefWorks
For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search.
- While on a thumbnail page, select images by clicking on them once; a red border will surround the selected images.
- Click on the Tools Menu and Save Citations for Selected Images.
- Click on the Tools Menu again to View and Export Saved Citations.
- The citations list will be displayed. Select the citations you wish to export and click on the Directly Export Citations into RefWorks link.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

- Conduct your search and mark the articles you wish to export to RefWorks.
- In the Article Options drop down menu select RefWorks and Go.
- A new screen will open with the tagged information. You can either copy and paste, or save the file as a text (.txt) file.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select RefWorks Tagged Format as the data source.
- Either select Import Data From the Following Text and Paste the information into the window or Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- Click Import.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Save the citations by selecting RefWorks from the “choose action for selected articles” drop down menu, above your citation list.
- Click on the “Go” button.
- The selected citations will appear in RefWorks format.
- Save the page as a text file to your computer.
- Log-in to your RefWorks account, if you have not already done so.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select ASME as the import filter and Tagged Format as the database.
- Select “import data from the following text file” by clicking on the radio button found beside this heading.
- Browse for the text file you have saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click on Import.
- Your references will now be imported into RefWorks.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Save the citations by selecting Speichern, near the top right of the page.
- Under Auswahlliste, at the bottom of the left navigation menu, look for the word Export. You will see two choices: Dublin core and Text. Select Dublin Core.
- A new window will open with the Dublin Core file. Select all the information and copy.
- Log-in to your RefWorks account, if you have not already done so.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select Bibliographe der deutschen Sprach-und Literaturwissenshaft as the data source and Dublin Core as the database.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click on the radio button for the section to Import Data from the Following Text File. Paste the Dublin Core text into the box below.
- Click on Import.

- Conduct your search and mark the references you want to export to RefWorks.
- In the Send section of the Search Results Page, select which records you want to send.
- Select Send to: RefWorks. Note: you have two options with or without abstracts.
- Click Send.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks. Click on Download.
- Select Standard Download and click Go.
- Select ASCII and Full Record as the record format and click on Go.
- Using your browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file. The file will have a .gpb extension.
- Select Text as the file type.
- Click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select BooksInPrint as the data source and BooksInPrint (ASCII Full Record) as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

For Direct Export:
- Conduct a search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on Ma Bibliographie.
- Click Exporter vers RefWorks.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should automatically appear in the Last Imported Folder.

For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on Update Marked List if you wish to compile records from numerous searches. When complete, click on Marked Records. If you want to immediately export your marked selections without adding them to a list, simply click on the RefWorks button.
- Note: if you do not see a RefWorks link, click on the Save, Print, Email link.
- Click the Export to RefWorks button.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
To Manually Save and Export Records:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks. Click on the Save/Print/E-mail link.
- Select either Marked References or Use Records from the Current Search.
- Select Full Format.
- Scroll down the page and select text as the document type as well as the file format you want. Now click Save.
- You will be prompted to either Open or Save the file (which is already named and is a text file).
- Note: If you select open, then the references appear in your browser window and from the File menu select Save As.
- Select the location where you want to save the file, the name you want and select Text as the Save As Type.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select CSA as the data source and the appropriate database as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.
Before your search, change the drop-down Format box to BibTeX. You may also wish to change the number of results (Headlines) per page to the maximum.
- Conduct your search.
- Using your Browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Select Text as the file type.
- Click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select BibTeX as the data source and Current Index to Statistics as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

America: History and Life; American Bibliography of Slavic and East European Studies; ATLA Religion Database; Bibliography of Native North Americans; CINAHL; Historical Abstracts; Mental Measurements Yearbook; Music Index Online; SPORTDiscus; Family and Society Studies Worldwide.
For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search.
- Click on the Add to folder icon for each of the results you want to save and export to RefWorks.
- Click on the Folder icon in the upper right-hand corner or click on Folder View on the lower right of the screen.
- Re-select the references to export.
- Click on the Export icon.
- Select Direct Export to RefWorks.
- Note: Uncheck the Remove these items from folder after saving option, if you want items to remain in the folder after performing the export function.
- Click the Save button to begin the direct export.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
To Manually Save and Export Records:
- Conduct your search.
- Click on the Add to folder icon for each of the results you want to save and export to RefWorks.
- Click on the Folder icon in the upper right-hand corner.
- Re-select the references to export.
- Click on the Export icon.
- Click the radio button in front of Generic bibliographic management software.
- Note: Uncheck the Remove these items from folder after saving option, if you want items to remain in the folder after performing the export function.
- Click Save.
- From the File menu select Save As.
- Select the location where you want to save the file, the name you want and select Text as the type of file.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select EBSCOhost as the data source and the appropriate database you searched from.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.
Compendex, Inspec, GEOBASE
For Direct Export:
- Conduct a search and mark the items you wish to export to RefWorks.
- Select Download from the search results page.
- Select RefWorks direct import and click on Download.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
For Trellis Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Export to RefWorks.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
For PRIMO Direct Export:
- Conduct your search in PRIMO.
- Add the records you would like to export to RefWorks onto your e-Shelf by marking the Add to e-Shelf box.
- Enter your e-Shelf and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Under the Save drop down menu select Add to RefWorks and click Go.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

Emerald
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on Marked List on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Click on Display for Download (ASCII).
- Using your browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Select Text as the file type.
- Click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select Emerald as the data source and All databases as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.
Note: This resource is also available through Scholar's Portal
- Conduct your search and add the records to My Clipboard.
- When you are ready to export, click on My Clipboard.
- Click on Export Citations.
- Select Citation Manager File as the file type to export.
- You will be prompted to save your .ris file. Choose a location, give the file a name and click save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select ERIC as the data source and database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on Marked Items.
- Click on Citation Tools in the Tools area.
- In the export to third party software, select RefWorks and click the Export button.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

For Direct Export:
Note: To activate the direct export to RefWorks, you must configure Google Scholar by clicking on the Scholars Preferences link and selecting RefWorks as your default in the Bibliography Manager area.
- Conduct your search in Google Scholar.
- Each record displayed will have an Import into RefWorks link. Clicking on the link will launch the RefWorks login page.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- You are brought automatically to the Edit view of the reference. If you do not wish to edit the record, you can navigate to any other area of RefWorks.
- Your record is stored in your Last Imported Folder.
To Manually Save and Export Records:
Note: You will need to change your Scholars Preferences and select Reference Manager as your default bibliography manager in order to save a text file of your export to your computer. If you have an ISI ResearchSoft product (Reference Manager, EndNote or ProCite) installed on your computer the following directions may not work.
- Conduct your search in Google Scholar.
- Each record displayed will have an Import into Reference Manager link. Click on the link.
- You will be prompted to either Open or Save the file (which is already named and is a .ris file). Choose Save.
- Select the location where you want to save the file.
- Click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select RIS Format as the data source and the database.
- Browse to find the file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.
1. Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
2. Click Marked List at the top of the screen.
3. Click Download records at the top of the list.
4. Click Export directly to RefWorks.
5. Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on View Selected Items.
- Under Download Citations, choose citation & abstract, and RefWorks from the drop down menu.
- Click on the double right arrow to launch the export.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on Update Marked List and then Marked List under Bookmarking Options.
- Click on Export Options and Plain Text.
- Using your Browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Select Text as the file type.
- Click using your browser’s Save As function, save the file as plain text.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select Ingenta as the data source and the appropriate database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

Note: To export multiple items at one time you must sign up for a free JSTOR account. Account holders can Mark Citations, click Save, go to My JSTOR and select Saved Citations, Export, and then RefWorks.
For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and click on the record you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on Export this Citation and select RefWorks.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on the Export Bibliographic Records icon (the Book icon).
- A new window will open and RefWorks Format is automatically selected.
- Confirm your Document Range and click Export.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

Library of Congress
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- In the Select Text or MARC Format drop-down, select Text (Full Information).
- Click the Press to Save or Print button. Your records will display in a new window.
- Using your browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select Endeavor Voyager as the data source and Library of Congress as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

- Conduct your search and select the records you want to export to RefWorks by clicking the Clipboard button.
- Review your marked citations by clicking the Clipboard button in the upper right of the screen.
- Select format: Citations (BibTeX).
- Using your browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file and save the file in the text format.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select BibTeX as the data source and MathSciNet as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search. From the list of books, click the underlined book title.
- Select Export to Refworks from the left navigation bar.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

- Conduct your search and view the record you want to export to RefWorks.
- On the record page, click RIS or BibTex.
- Using your Browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Save the file as a either a RIS file type (.ris) or BibTex (.bib).
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select RefWorks Tagged Format as the data source if you saved the file in .ris format; select BibTeX as the data source if you saved the file in .bib format. Select multiple databases as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

EMBASE; MEDLINE; Primal Pictures Complete Human Anatomy and IFA; International Pharmaceutical Abstracts.
For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- In the Results Manager, start by selecting the results you would like to export.
- Select Complete Reference in the Fields section.
- Select the Direct Export in the Result Format section.
- Click the Save button in the Actions section.
- Select Export Results to RefWorks and Continue.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
To Manually Save and Export Records:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- In the Results Manager, start by selecting the results you would like to export.
- Select Complete Reference in the Fields section.
- Select the Ovid format.
- At the top of the Results Manager, click the Save button.
- Select the appropriate platform style and click Continue.
- Click Save at the File Download prompt.
- Select the location where you want to save the text file and type the file name.
- Click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select OVID as the data source and select the appropriate database.
- Browse to find the file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.
Note: If you do
not see the Export Citations to RefWorks option contact your Ovid Technical
Support representative to have it turned on.
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on Saved Records. A new window will open with the records you have selected.
- From the Format drop-down, choose ISI.
- From the Disposition drop-down, choose Export.
- Click on Submit.
- Browse to the location where you want to save the file. The file extension will be enw.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select Refer Format as the data source and EndNote as the database.
- Browse to find the .enw file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on the Saved Marked Results button.
- Click on View Saved Results
- Under Export Marked Results: choose RefWorks.
- Click the Export button.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

ABI/INFORM, Canadian Research Index,
Dissertations and Theses (PQDT)
For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- You can choose to Export from the current page or from My Research if you would like to add additional records and export later. If you add the records to My Research, select that folder tab when you are ready to export and then select Export Citations.
- Select Export Directly to RefWorks.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
To Manually Save and Export Records:
- Perform a search and mark the references you want to export to RefWorks.
- You can choose to Export from the current page or from My Research if you would like to add additional records and export later. If you add the records to My Research, select that folder tab when you are ready to export.
- From My Research, select Export Citations.
- Select Download in a format compatible with ProCite, EndNote, Reference Manager and RefWorks.
- Select Save As from your browser and select Text as the file type.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select RIS Format as the data source and database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

- Conduct your search and mark the references you want to export to RefWorks.
- Change the Display option from Summary to MEDLINE.
- In the Send To drop-down, select Text. A window opens with just the
references in MEDLINE format.
- Select Save As from your browser and select Text as the file
type.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select NLM PubMed as the data source and as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- Click Import.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click Export Citations.
- Select either All documents or only documents from the marked records.
- Select Citations + Abstracts to export the record's abstracts.
- Select the RefWorks Direct Export and click Export.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click Save As from the top of the search screen.
- Navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Select Tagged Format as the file type.
- Click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select CAS Scifinder as the data source and CAPlus as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on the Output button.
- Select Export as the desired output type.
- Select RefWorks direct export as the export format.
- Select the citation format you prefer. For the most complete record, we recommend selecting Complete Format as your citation format.
- Click the Export button.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
Note: You can bypass logging in by entering your RefWorks login information in your Scopus My Profile area and selecting RefWorks Settings. Entering your information in this area will also allow Scopus to display a RefWorks icon next to records in Scopus that you already have in your RefWorks database, helping prevent the importing of duplicate records.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks by selecting Add to Marked List.
- Go to View Marked List.
- Select display for download (ASCII).
- You will be prompted to save a file to your computer. Click the Save button.
- Give the file a name and click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select SourceOECD as the data source and the database
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- In the Options for Selected Articles, Check articles then... drop-down, select Download Citations In: RefWorks and click the Go button.
- A new window will appear with your references. Using your browser's Save As function, save the page as a plain text (.txt) file.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select RefWorks Tagged Format as the data source and Tagged Format as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

Note: If you have an ISI ResearchSoft product (Reference Manager, EndNote or ProCite) installed on your computer the following directions may not work. An ISI Helper application may have been installed on your computer that is automatically called. It will not allow you to save the information to text.
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks by clicking the Add to Marked Items link next to each record.
- When finished, click on the Marked Items link in the left-hand navigation.
- Click on the Download This List icon.
- Click on the RIS button. You will be prompted to save a .ris file to your computer, so click the Save button.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select RIS Format as the data source and the database.
- Browse to find the file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Select View Marked Records.
- In the Download area, select General Bibliographic, Text and Full as your download options. Click the Download button.
- You will be prompted to save a text (.txt) file to your computer. Navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select TRIS ONLINE as the data source and the database.
- Browse to find the file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

Web of Science (Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index)
Note: If the records you wish to export from WOS are on a single search results page, you can bypass instructions 2 through 5 below. Simply mark your records, select the fields to include in the export, select Save to other Reference Software in the drop-down and click the Save button in the Step 3 area at the bottom of the page. Import the file following the instructions starting at #6 below.
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks by clicking in the checkbox to the left of the citation and selecting Add to Marked List.
- Click on the Marked List link when you are ready to export.
- On the Marked Records page in the Step 1 area, select the fields you want to include in the export.
- In the Step 2 area, leave the Field Tagged option for Save to File and select the Other Reference Software and click the Save to File button.
- You will be prompted to save a text file to your computer. Click Save and choose an appropriate drive and file name. Click Save, then Close.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select ISI (Institute for Scientific Information) as the data source and Web of Science as the database.
- Browse to find the file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

Wiley InterScience
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click Download Selected Citations.
- Select Plain Text as your format and Abstracts and Citations as your Export Type. Also select the appropriate file type.
- You will be prompted to save a text file to your computer. Click Save and navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select Wiley InterScience as the data source and as the database.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.

Applied Science Abstracts; Art Abstracts; Art Retrospective; Book Review Digest; General Science Full Text; Humanities Full Text; Social Sciences Full Text; Readers’ Guide Full Text.
For Direct Export:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click the Get Marked button or the Exporting/Citing tab.
- Click the Export button. Choose to export the marked list or an alternate set of records.
- Select RefWorks' Direct Export Tool in the Download Record(s) into: area.
- Click the Export button.
- You will now be prompted to log in to your RefWorks account if you have not already done so.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
To Manually Save and Export Records:
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- From the search results page, select Print Email Save.
- Expand the Save options.
- Under Fields select All Citation Fields.
- Under Format select For Exporting to Bibliographic Software.
- Select Save. A new window will open with the tagged results.
- Using your browser's Save As function, navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
- Select Text as the file type and click Save.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select H.W. Wilson as the data source and All Databases as the database.
- Browse to find the file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.
- Conduct your search and mark the records you want to export to RefWorks.
- Click on the Show Button to view the Marked List.
- Click on the BibTex Button for each citation.
- Use your browser's Save As menu to save the web page as a plain text (.txt) file.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select BibTeX as the data source and Multiple Databases as the database.
- Browse to find the file you saved to your computer.
- You can select a folder into which you would like to import your references. If you do not select a folder, your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
- Click Import.
