The Library has full depository status for both Ontario and Canadian federal government publications, and extensive collections from all other Canadian provinces and territories. The collection also includes many foreign government publications; the strongest holdings are for Great Britain and the United States, and the publications of the international governmental organizations such as the United Nations.
Most government publications are on the 5th floor of the Dana Porter Library. Many of the government publications in the Dana Porter Library do not circulate and must be used in the Library.
Government publications of scientific and technical interest are located in the Davis Centre Library.
Government publications are accessible through Primo, the online catalogue. Government documents can be searched by all available search functions. The best search to use to locate government publications, if you do not have the exact title, is the "Combining Keywords" search. Of particular value are the ability to narrow searches by location using Limitcommand and capability specifying field be searched. Many but not all government publications catalogued with subject headings, therefore use "Subject" search with caution.
Many valuable government publications are available on the Internet as well as in hardcopy. However, an increasing number of significant government publications are only available on the Internet.
