This vector data resource provides municipal planning information for the Region of Waterloo. The data sets were delivered to the Library by the Regional Municipality of Waterloo in January 2001.
In July, 2008 the Map Library received Traffic Zones (2006) from the region. The shape file contains the following attributes for each traffic zone: House holds in 2004/ 2005, Total population 2004/ 2005, Total employment in 2001/ 2004/ 2005 and Post secondary students in 2005.
A Traffic Zone or a TAZ is a zone that is used within the Region's Transportation Forecast Model for the purposes of assigning trips to and from each zone to the Region's transportation network. Each zone has a population and employment and trips are generated based on these numbers. The trips generated are then assigned to the road network and traffic forecasts are created.
On February 19, 2009 the Map Library received an update to the GRT routes and stops datasets. These two ESRI shapefiles show bus routes and stops in Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge.
On February 23, 2009 the Map Library received a new shape file that lists Traffic Signals at all interesections within the Regional Municipality of Waterloo.
On May 8, 2009 the Map Library received a new shape file for Single Line Street Network which is accurate as of April 2009. Attribute information includes: street name, alternate name, municipality, address ranges, ramp (y/n), one way or two, speed limit , number of lanes, cross streets and salting.
On October 13, 2009 the Map Library received an updated Single Line Street Network with the same rich attribute information as the previous version received on May 8, 2009.
