2001 Census Maps for the Kitchener CMA

Created by staff in the University Map and Design Library (UMD), the 2001 Census Maps for the Kitchener CMA web page provides access to a series of digital census maps for the cities of Waterloo, Kitchener, and Cambridge, as well as the townships of Woolwich and North Dumfries.

Included on this page are links to thematic maps plotting demography (e.g., population density), marital status, immigration and ethnicity, language, and education information for the Kitchener Census Metropolitan Area by census tract. These maps were created using profile data from Statistics Canada for the 2001 census, geospatial data provided by DMTI Spatial (e.g., census boundaries and major roads), and ESRI-site licensed ArcGIS software.

UMD staff have created a number of supplementary documents that may assist you in creating your own maps using these datasets and software, all of which are available in the UMD Library.

The 2001 Census Maps for the Kitchener CMA can be accessed from the UMD Library's home page menu under Census Atlas.
