ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (PQDT) (formerly Digital Dissertations) provides users with a web database for accessing citations, abstracts, and full text for doctoral dissertations and master's theses from over 1,000 North American and international graduate schools. Overall, there are approximately 2 million dissertations and theses indexed in ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. Citations are provided to dissertations and theses dated as early as 1861 and as recent as the previous fiscal academic semester. The full text is provided for dissertations and theses from 1997 to the present for all submitting schools, and in the case of some schools, all years are available.
Offering user-friendly basic and advanced search options, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses also provides search limiters, such as date range, full text documents only, and doctoral dissertations only. Additional features include a 24-page preview option, as well as the full text for theses and dissertations from 1997 to the present. Another feature is available for ordering dissertations and theses online (for non UW documents prior to 1997) via UMI Dissertation Express. (Please note that orders for non UW dissertations and theses are not subsidized by the Library and costs must be assumed by individuals who decide to place orders directly with UMI.)
A Search Tips link is available from ProQuest Dissertation and Theses basic and advanced search interfaces.
Access to ProQuest Dissertations and Theses is available from the Library's Research Databases page by clicking on the letter "D" in the Browse by Title section, then by selecting "Dissertation and Theses (PQDT)."
