
The University of Waterloo Library was recently awarded a $750,000 CDN "Challenge Grant" from the Michigan-based Kresge Foundation toward the second phase of UW’s Next Generation Library renovation. The grant is made on a challenge basis to assist the university in raising the balance required to complete the renovation projects. [full article - Kresge]
Two
recent gifts to the Library have transformed parts of the Dana Porter and
Davis Centre Libraries. Funded by a $500,000 Campaign Waterloo leadership
gift from community members, Peter and Betty Sims, the third floor of the
Dana Porter Library now houses a periodical reading room and new computer
workstations. Additionally, a $150,000 donation from The Economical Insurance
Group in honour of Peter Sims has helped rejuvenate one of the Davis Center
Library's Silent Study areas with the provision of new carrels and chairs. [full

Offering both browsing and searching capabilities, this collection from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants provides access to a series of handbooks and guides relevant to the fields of Accounting and Assurance. images.MD (iMD) is an online encyclopedia featuring more than 50,000 high-quality medical images, each one accompanied by authoritative text from 2,000 of the world's leading medical experts. More than 90 subject collections can be found on the site. The images can be incorporated into online courses, lecture presentations for class or conferences, and course notes without the need to get copyright clearance. [full article - iMD]
