New IBM Workstations at Porter

These new workstations, equipped with an extensive suite of supported software (including Microsoft Office) and research tools, are made possible from the UW Alumni @ IBM Campaign. Library Staff Meet the Challenge

The Library was recently awarded a gift of $750,000 CDN for renovations from the Kresge Challenge Grant. This grant was made on a challenge basis: if the Library can raise the balance required to complete the renovation goal of $2.8 million by December 2006, then the grant funds from Kresge will be received. Staff at the Library were the first to meet the Challenge through their collective participation. [full article - Staff Challenge]

New Resources

BioMed Central (BMC)

BioMed Central (BMC) is an independent open-access publisher providing a portal to over 130 peer-reviewed journals, several research databases, and other products related to biomedical research. UW Faculty and students may publish any number of articles in BioMed Central journals without paying article processing fees. All manuscripts submitted to BMC receive prompt and thorough feedback from participating peer reviewers. Through our membership with BMC, UW actively supports your research and open-access scholarly publishing. [full article - BioMed Central]
