The Waterloo Directory of English Newspapers and Periodicals: 1800-1900

The second edition of The Waterloo Directory of English Newspapers and Periodicals: 1800-1900 provides online access to information about approximately 50,000 newspapers and periodicals published in England between January 1, 1800 and December 31, 1900. This database consolidates information from over 6,000 secondary sources, including scholarly resources for press historians and innumerable reference works on the history of Great Britain. Additionally, the directory includes digital images of title pages for 9,000 Victorian periodicals.

The Waterloo Directory of English Newspapers and Periodicals is a valuable resource for research in all subject disciplines. It allows researchers to identify primary sources and significant library collections for historic content such as:

Access to The Waterloo Directory of English Newspapers and Periodicals: 1800-1900 is available from the Library’s Research Databases (Journal Articles) page by clicking on the letter "W" in the Browse by Title section, then by selecting the link for "Waterloo directory of English newspapers and periodicals:1800-1900."
