Interested in learning more about Geographic Information Systems (GIS)? Curious how you can use GIS technology in your own research? It is time to discover the world through GIS at UW’s Annual GIS Day.
The University Map Library will host UW’s annual GIS Day in conjunction with the Mapping, Analysis and Design (MAD) Department on Wednesday November 14 from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm in the ES2 building's first floor foyer.
GIS Day is an annual global event geared to educate people on how geography makes a difference in our lives through the technology of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Celebrations begin in the morning with a handful of introductory hands-on workshops on topics such as GPS, geomatics, remote sensing, and more. The afternoon brings a variety of research presentations where UW faculty and grad students will discuss how they use GIS technology in their research. This is a great opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and others to learn more about GIS and how it is used at UW.
A map gallery of GIS projects and posters will be on display throughout the day and will be judged for prizes in a number of categories, including this year's best 'GIS poster.'
Come see the UW community bring mapping to life!
