Friends of the Library Event a Success

Over 500 people joined us for the Friends of the Library Authors Event held on April 1 in the Humanities Theatre. This year’s event featured a keynote talk by the Hon. John Manley, P.C. entitled “Afghanistan: Is there an answer?”

Hon. John Manley, P.C. at the Friends of the Library Event

In his talk, Manley drew from his experiences as Foreign Affairs Minister and most recently as the chair of the Independent Panel on Canada’s Future Role in Afghanistan. Often including personal reflections from his travels to Afghanistan, Manley provided a candid picture of the Afghanistan situation and actively engaged audience questions.

In addition to Manley’s talk, the event recognized 30 individuals from the UW community who authored a book or other creative works during the past year. A display showcasing the celebrated authors' works is now available to view in the Library's Special Collections.
