The Copyright FAQ is complete and now available on UW’s copyright page, along with additional information on copyright such as UW’s copyright license, the Access Copyright license, and general copyright information prepared by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.
The Copyright FAQ provides answers to everything you ever wanted to know about copyright, answering questions like How long does copyright last?... Can I play videos in class?.... Are there special rules for scanning?
The FAQ guide includes six sections:
The Library coordinated the preparation of this FAQ following a recommendation of the Academic Integrity Committee. It was created in collaboration with representatives from departments across campus that have copyright responsibilities, including the BookStore, Centre for Teaching Excellence, Distance and Continuing Education, the Graduate Studies Office, Graphics, Information Systems and Technology. Chabriol Colebatch from the Office of Research was a key player, advising on matters relating to intellectual property.
Contributors from the Library included Susan Routliffe, Wish Leonard, Alex McCulloch, Susan Mavor, and the University Librarian and chair of CARL’s Copyright Committee, Mark Haslett.
See the UW's Daily Bulletin for a full article on the Copyright FAQ.
