ASTM Standards

If you have ever had trouble trying to find an ASTM standard, you will be happy to learn that all current ASTM standards are now available online.

The standards are accessible via TRELLIS and Primo Beta, as well as from the Standards and Codes section of the Online Reference Shelf. Search for ‘Annual book of ASTM standards.'

astmThe American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) writes standards that cover design and testing of a wide variety of things from ski goggles (F659-06) to flat conveyor belts (D378-00) and how to sample wastes from pipes (D5013-89). Standards like these define, for example, how a test is to be performed so that a test done at one factory last week is comparable to a test done at a different factory next week and the week after.

The Library has a basic subscription to the standards through OCUL that covers all current standards. Previous and withdrawn standards will appear as search results but will not be viewable. Backfiles of print standards are kept at the Annex, and are available by placing a request in TRELLIS or Primo Beta.
