Looking for something different to shake up your weeknights? Check out the Live & Learn Lecture series held at the Waterloo Public Library main branch.
A collaborative effort between UW’s Faculty of Arts and the Waterloo Public Library (WPL), the lectures feature prominent UW Arts professors speaking on a range of topics. The purpose of the series is to share knowledge, spark discussion, and foster lifelong learning within the broader Waterloo Region community.
Upcoming lectures extend into April and include:
March 24 |
Is it normal for my teenager to be gambling? |
April 7 |
Saying Uncle: Speaking under Torture or Coercion |
April 21 |
Necromedia |
The lectures often also explore the connection between academia, popular culture, and technology, with previous lectures including a talk entitled “Mr. Plow Meets the Beatles” by English Professor, Randy Harris; a discussion on convergent telematic theatre by Drama Chair, Gerd Hauck; and an investigation on blogging from both the personal and cultural perspective by English professor, Aimee Morrison.
All lectures are held in the James J. Brown Auditorium at the WPL’s Main Library.
