The Library has joined the Twittersphere! You can now keep up with the Library’s news, events, and other updates on Twitter.
Twitter is a micro-blogging web tool that lets you communicate and connect with others who are using Twitter through short updates of 140 characters or less. Users can send updates via the web, SMS, email, instant messaging, or a host of other applications.
Twitter uptake has surged in recent months with notable politicians and celebrities who are starting to “tweet.” Of course, the UW Library counts among these notables:
Besides keeping up with others, probably the best reason to start using Twitter is for the Twitter search, which lets you see what people are saying right now on any given topic. You don’t need an account to search (bonus!), although after playing around the search for a bit, don’t be surprised if you’re tempted to join in the momentum.
