It’s big, it's bright, and yes, it's beautiful. The Witer Learning Resource Centre (WLRC) opened its doors Friday, June 5, as part of the School of Optometry’s ribbon cutting ceremony for the School’s new addition.

Formerly known as the Optometry Learning Resource Centre, the WLRC was named in recognition of a $500,000 gift given by philanthropists Marta Witer and Ian Ihnatowycz to the School's expansion project.

Described as a "hub of student activity and study" by the School's Director Thomas Freddo, the WLRC is located on the second floor of the east side of the new addition. It houses the Optometry resources and educational materials and has expanded to include a range of new features and services available for Optometry students, faculty, and staff.

While there is still some finishing work required, Optometry Librarian, Kathy MacDonald, notes that students are already enjoying the new space. She explains, "Students seem very impressed with the WLRC. They like the new computers, increased number of study rooms, and all the light."
Next time you are by the Optometry building, stop in and see for yourself.
