Wordle

It’s almost summer, so have some fun with your research! Use Wordle to visualize what your research, term paper, or latest article looks like as a word cloud.

Wordle iconYou have probably seen word clouds before since they have been used to analyse the acceptance speeches of popular politicians and award-winning celebrities. But when it comes to your own work, word clouds can allow you to quickly gauge your key focuses, frequently used words, and sometimes, the overall tone of your work.

For example, this issue of news @ your library looks like this when put through Wordle’s word cloud generator:

news @ your library wordle

To create your own Wordle word clouds, simply cut and paste text into Wordle’s form or provide a URL for webpages.

Who knows? You may discover that your short story, Masters thesis, or personal website never looked so good!

Note: If you would like a break from your own work, it's also fun to wordle your favourite poems, quotes, and websites.
