The Library is pleased to welcome Annie Bélanger to her position as Head of Information Services and Resources (ISR) at the Dana Porter Library. In this position, she provides leadership and direction for nine librarians and four associates within Porter ISR.

Annie arrives at the Library with a diverse background in special and public libraries. Most recently, she was the Head of Public Services Development at the New Brunswick Public Library Service where she oversaw the development and implementation of user services at the provincial level.
Annie is excited to make the transition to academic libraries and to the Waterloo Library in particular.

With extensive experience in management, web development, information architecture, marketing, and provision of service to students with disabilities, Annie is already leading a range of projects in the Library that make use of her specialized skills.
A key project is a lead role managing the Library’s incorporation of the upcoming regulations for the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. She explains, “I have worked with students with disabilities in the past as well as on web accessibility projects. This project is a continuation of my passion to ensure that we are removing barriers for all members of our society.”
Outside the Library, Annie’s attentions are primarily captured by her new daughter, Zoë. She is also an avid reader and nature photographer (specializing in macro shots that capture "the minute details in a plant or shell”), and enjoys frequent road trips with her family.
Everyone in Porter ISR warmly welcomes Annie to the helm. Echoing the sentiment, Annie adds, “It’s wonderful to work with such an innovative and passionate group!”
