Have you checked out the Smithsonian libraries’ image collection yet? Released this past summer, the Image Galaxy collection has continued to grow with new images being added continually.
"The thousands of images on this site represent only a small portion of the more than 1.5 million printed books and manuscripts in the collections of Smithsonian Institution Libraries,” the website explains.

The individual collections include Butterflies and Moths, Book Arts and Design, Fictional Characters, and Scientific Instruments.
