Special Collections' Latest Researchers

Special Collections hosted some of the region’s most promising researchers this month.

Visiting Grade 7/8 students explored materials in Special Collections as part of a “Sleuthing Primary Documents” workshop held at the Dana Porter Library.

Students were invited to examine and analyze materials relating to Waterloo history, including rare books, photographs, and diaries. In this case, the archival materials students examined were about 10 times older than the students themselves.

When asked about the department's latest visitors, Head of Special Collections Susan Mavor remarks, “It’s exciting to bring some of the collection’s oldest materials on local history into the hands of this region’s youngest researchers.”
