The Encyclopedia of Communication Theory is the latest addition to the Library’s online reference collection. Containing over 300 entries, this reference resource provides information on a wide range of communication theories and theoretical concepts.
Initially created as a two volume set, this online version is fully searchable and also contains an alphabetical and subject browse.
The Encyclopedia covers a wide range of topics of potential interest to scholars in Speech Communication, English, Drama, Sociology, Psychology, and Women’s Studies.

Specific topics covered include intercultural communication, advertising theories, nonverbal communication, campaign communication theories, classical rhetoric, cognitive theories, organizational theory, interracial communication, new media theory, and feminist and gender theories.
The Encyclopedia also includes an alphabetical list of theorists covered and chronology for major events in the history of communication theory. It is accessible via Primo and the Online Reference Shelf.
