Big Changes Planned for Primo

Prepare yourself for some big changes to Primo! Library staff will be upgrading Primo, our library catalogue and discovery tool, to a new version this fall. Changes you can expect include an improved user interface and more efficient delivery of search results.

Here are some specific improvements you can look forward to:

• A streamlined search and sign-in area, characterized by a slimmer banner
  
• A clearer search results display with reduced visual clutter and easily accessible links and item information
• An easier way to place holds
• New searching and sorting features. For example, you will be able to sort alphabetically by author or title
• Fewer pop-up windows. Instead, item results will have a new tabbed interface to display information within the results page
• Improved “did you mean?” suggestions

Why the changes?

Since launching Primo last fall, we have listened to your suggestions and taken them to the product developers. A lot of the improvements you will see in the new Primo are things you have asked for.

This new version of Primo is being tested this summer and we hope to make it available by the end of August.
