Interested in public relations from an academic standpoint? If so, check out the Encyclopedia of Public Relations, the Library’s newest e-reference resource.

This encyclopedia takes a critical approach to public relations and focuses primarily on theoretical and historical aspects of the field, with a particular focus on the areas of journalism, communications, and marketing.

Accessible via Primo and the Library’s Online Reference Shelf, the e-book is fully searchable and has a selection of browse options, including a reader’s guide that contains all entries categorized by topic, an A-Z list of all entries, and a “search as you type” subject index.

There are many entires within all of the topics above, the most numerous being the “jargon” topic with close to 150 entries containing detailed descriptions of public relations jargon words such as “Photo-Op,” “Clip,” “Copy,” and “Doublespeak.”

While this resource is primarily intended for academics, it may be of interest to public relations professionals.
