The Library welcomes Ahmed Kenawy to his new position as Evening Supervisor and Technical Support in the Davis Centre Library.
In this contract position, Ahmed supervises and trains evening casual staff members at the Davis Centre Library and ensures that service at the Circulation Desk meets the needs of all library visitors. He also monitors the Library during the night in order to provide a productive and optimum environment for students and helps visitors with a wide range of technical questions.
Regular library visitors will probably already know or recognize Ahmed as one of Circulation’s friendliest faces. He worked for the Library for three years prior to starting in this position, first as a casual staff member and then as a supervisor both at the Davis Centre and Dana Porter libraries.
Ahmed is liking his new position so far. “We have a great team of casual staff at the desk,” he says. “I’m really enjoying the experience of working in such a dynamic place surrounded by all these enthusiastic and passionate students from different cultures.”
Before arriving at the Library, Ahmed completed a medical degree at Ain-Shams University in Cairo-Egypt. While in Cairo, he also obtained his Masters degree in neuropsychiatry and worked in a mental hospital and a governmental institute for addiction therapy for four years.
In his spare time Ahmed enjoys working out, biking, fishing, playing ping-pong, and working on puzzles.
