New Additions to the Online Reference Shelf

Over the past couple of months, the Library has added several reference titles worth noting to the Online Reference Shelf in the areas of Humanities and Social Sciences.

New titles include:

• Continuum Encyclopedia of British Philosophy
  “A comprehensive reference work devoted to philosophy in Britain.” It covers individual thinkers, historical perspectives of core philosophical topics, and factual and detailed specific entries.
  
  
• Dictionary of Modern American Philosophers
  This specialized dictionary covers “almost any aspect of modern American thought.” It provides a scholarly treatment of the life and works of academic and non-academic philosophers. It includes less known, presently obscure, and minority intellectuals.
  
  
• The Oxford International Encyclopedia of Peace
  This encyclopedia offers “a comprehensive survey of the full range of historical, political, theoretical, and philosophical issues relating to peace and conflict.” The entries are written by leading scholars in the field.
  
  
• Oxford International Encyclopedia of Legal History
  This resource provides “both historical and contemporary comparisons of the world legal systems.” It covers legal history “from ancient to modern times.”
  
  
• Continuum Companion to Twentieth Century Theatre
  This title includes “over 2500 entries that range widely over theatre in the last century.” It features scholarly entries as well as contributions by “professional theatre insiders.”
  
  
• Continuum Complete International Encyclopedia of Sexuality
  This resource covers “the full range of topics in the study of human sexual behavior throughout the world.”
