Doors Open 2011

Special Collections is taking part in Doors Open in Waterloo Region for a second year on Saturday, September 17.  In this year’s exhibit, Special Collections celebrates the role of photographers to open doors to spaces and scenes throughout history that may otherwise remain undocumented. Eureka.cc

Once available via Knowledge Ontario, the Library now subscribes to the news database, Eureka.cc. Eureka.cc provides access to over 3,700 news sources worldwide in over a dozen languages. [full article - Eureka.cc] 8 Sept 2011

Oxford Handbooks Online - 2011 Additions

The Library’s subscription to the Oxford Handbooks Online got a boost with the addition of 17 titles during 2011, bringing the total number of handbooks available to just under 100. [full article - Oxford Handbooks Online] 8 Sept 2011

Introducing Pascal Calarco

Picture of Pascal CalarcoThe Library is pleased to introduce Pascal Calarco as the Library’s new Associate University Librarian, Digital & Discovery Services. Pascal comes to the Library with significant experience in academic libraries. Most recently, he was the Head of Library Information Systems at the University Libraries of Notre Dame. One of the questions that library staff hear the most at the beginning of the term is “does the Library have popular fiction or other leisure reading books?” The answer is “yes”!
