We're Keeping Primo Central!

After an 8-month trial and extensive usability testing, the Library will be moving forward to implement Primo Central on a more permanent basis. Primo Central is a search tool that lets you find books, articles, and other research materials simultaneously through a single interface.

Our usability testing revealed that users are generally pleased with the breadth of resources, ease of use, and inherent flexibility of Primo Central. A distinct advantage is that Primo Central uses the same interface as Primo, which many of our uses are already familiar with.

In coming months, we will be configuring Primo Central on the Library’s home page, resolving any accessibility issues associated with its web pages, and customizing aspects of the interface to address potential issues identified during usability testing. In the meantime, Primo Central will still be available on the Library’s website in the same format as during the trial.

Wilfrid Laurier University Library and the University of Guelph Library (Waterloo's Tri-University Group partners), will also be implementing Primo Central on independent timelines.

Thanks to everyone who tried Primo Central during the trial or participated in our usability testing.
