The Library now has a subscription to the Biology Image Library, a useful online resource containing over 15,000 images, movies, illustrations, and animations across biology and biomedicine.

Published by BioMed Central, the Biology Image Library is primarily aimed at lecturers, researchers, and students who may be looking for images to support their lectures and studies.
It is divided into seven major topic areas:
Users have the option to browse by these categories or conduct a quick or advanced search. The advanced search functionality includes an option to limit keywords to the title, description, keywords, copyright holder, credits, or contributor.
A sample quick search for mitosis, for example, brings up 7 photographs, 116 micrographs, 4 illustrations, and 35 movies.

The Biology Images Library includes images from BioMed Central journals and those contributed from registered users. All of the materials are peer-reviewed and are available for uWaterloo scholars to use for non-commercial purposes, such as in lecture slides.
