The Library is currently participating in MINES, a province-wide survey to measure the use of our electronic resources. This online survey will be active from February 2010 for 12 consecutive months and will pop up randomly for individuals accessing our electronic resources.
MINES is an online survey that collects data on the purpose and use of electronic resources and the demographics of our users.
Measuring the Impact of Networked Electronic Services™
It is only five questions long and takes less than one minute to complete.
No. Participation is completely voluntary.
The survey appears 1 in every 250 uses of our subscription electronic resources.
So we can better meet your needs! MINES will help us evaluate how well we are meeting your research needs with the electronic resources provided locally through Scholars Portal.
MINES data will be used to inform our collection and service decisions by providing us with reliable data on the current usage by Waterloo students, faculty, and staff.
Data collected will also be compared to that of other participating university libraries to allow for benchmarking on our e-services.
It’s possible. The survey is delivered randomly and there is no tracking of who has already participated.
This survey is a joint venture of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) and the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). The University of Waterloo Library is a member of both of these consortiums.
ARL is administering the survey and 21 university libraries are participating.
Yes. The survey has received Quality Assurance clearing from Waterloo’s Office of Research Ethics.
