Library to Participate in International Survey

On February 14, all faculty members, graduate students, and a sample of undergraduate students received an email invitation from the Library to participate in an online survey conducted by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). The Library Service Quality Survey (LibQUAL+®) is part of an international effort to develop effective measures of library service quality and identify best practices. All libraries belonging to the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) will participate in this year’s survey.

LibQUAL+ is a standardized survey for measuring library users' perceptions of service quality. It is designed to identify gaps between desired, perceived, and minimum expectations of service. The UW Library was one of the first university libraries in Canada to participate in the pilot launch of the LibQUAL survey in 2001.

The survey is confidential and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete online. Participants also have the option to enter in a draw to win one of eight $50 UW Retail Services gift cards.

For more information, contact the survey coordinator, Shabiran Rahman (Ext. 32882). Additional information about the survey is also available from the Library Service Quality Survey 2007 website.
