Canadian Library Week Contest

In honour of the first, official Canadian Library Week (October 17-24), we are holding a contest to test your knowledge of the UW Library.

Established by the Canadian Library Association (CLA), Canadian Library Week was developed "to help raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play." The theme of the inaugural Canadian Library Week is: Lifelong Libraries - Discover Us!

To celebrate Canadian Library Week, we would like you to get to know the UW Library better by participating with the quiz below:

Provide the full names for two of the three people represented in the paintings displayed on the Dana Porter Library's Portrait Wall.

What year did the Davis Centre Library open?

Who is the current Liaison Librarian for Mathematics?

On which floor in the Dana Porter Library would you find the following book: The Library; a Poem (call number - PR4512.L5 1966)?

What is the maximum fine you can receive for one overdue library book?

Which Library is open 24 hours a day, 6 days a week during exam time?

Contest Rules & Regulations

This contest is open to current UW students, faculty, and (non-library) staff. You have until (midnight) Thursday, October 27 to submit your answers and contact information (full name, program, email address/phone number) by email. (Please include "Library Quiz" in the Subject line of the email.)

Prizes will be awarded to the first three entries presenting correct answers to all 6 quiz questions. (The time stamp for when the email was originally received will be used in deciding winners.)

The prize for first place is a $25 gift certificate for the UW Book Store.
The prize for second place is a $15 gift certificate for the UW Book Store.
The price for third place is an official "Climb to the Top @ your library" t-shirt.

Winners will be contacted by the Library.

The correct answers and winners of the contest will be announced in the November 24th issue of news @ your library.
