The current walkway has a weak foundation that has resulted in frequent leaks in the Library's Special Collections Department located on the first floor. Since this is where the Library's rare books and archives are stored, it is essential that we replace this walkway.
The upper layer of the decking, the railing, the east side ramps, and both sets of stairs.
Here’s a brief summary of what you’ll see during the course of this work:
- existing patio stones will be removed around the outside perimeter of the main floor
- sand underlying theses stones will be removed
- existing railing and membrane will be removed and replaced with a new membrane
- a new accessibility ramp will be installed at the front entrance and a poured concrete walkway will be installed with a new unpainted railing
Approximately three months. Construction will begin in mid to late May and is expected to be complete by mid to late August.
