At the last meeting Michele reported a problem with the lack of shelving for periodicals – The School of Architecture decided that the stacks along the river-side will be high to allow more room for periodicals. Along the north wing the tables have been moved in a different direction to increase the aisle width, and window seats have been added along the Melbourne street side.
Michele has determined the number of books from UMD to be moved to Cambridge . First estimate was close to 10,000, but according to recent numbers the total will be 8,060. All new books are being housed in UMD until the move.
Richard distributed an updated projects list. A new section has been added to the end called “Completed Projects”, where three projects have been moved. The committee reviewed the updated report:
| 8. | project #11 is the current priority. When it is complete cataloguing will start on #8. |
| 11. | Gerald Underhill visited the Annex, arranged the theses and started pulling the undergrad theses from the list. He has the excel spreadsheet for the theses, periodicals and books in the annex. He is going to record the information for the size, to determine how much space is needed in the rare book area. He will then start pulling the books and periodicals, then security stripping this material. Gerald will visit the annex one day a week in May and two days a week in June. |
| 1. | half the titles we have ordered have arrived and are in the cataloguing area. No further ordering will take place until some outstanding journals are received and the budget is reviewed. |
| 2. | no change – on target |
| 4. | on target |
| 5. | on target |
| 6. | Susan Bellingham will arrange for the appraiser. |
| 7. | on target |
| 9. | still pending |
| 10. | when the materials are all together, Eric Boyd will determine the size to determine what movers are required and the cost. |
| 12. | sensitizing the strips when removed from the boxes, should be added |
| 14. | Amy Townsend will start working with Michele next week. |
| 15. | as discussed earlier in the meeting, it is still uncertain how to determine systems support. |
