Present: Susan Saunders Bellingham, Betty Graf, Michele Laing, Richard Pinnell, Murray Shepherd
Recorder: Cheryl Kieswetter
Michele estimated 30-35,000 titles will move to Architecture building.
- about 9,000 from UMD
- about 26,000 from Dana Porter (including Special Collections)
Cataloguing issues
- Dendy Collection
- possiblility of other duplicates in Annex belonging to WLU or Guelph
- when cataloguing the location needs to be changed in two areas
- security strips added and deactivated now or wait to add and activate when ready to move?
- estimate how much time - person hours needed to relocate collections
- serials are more complicated to catalogue than monographs
- microforms (special cabinets or shelved with books?)
- thesis - controlled access/architecture department (4 years)/UMD (1 year) - should be digitized at time of completion (who pays for this?) - most are in binders - architecture department has them subject coded in database
- architecture drawings - not catalogued
Cambridge Public Library
- time to meet Greg?
- check out architecture collection
Special Collections
- Dendy Collection - 4-5,000 uncatalogued
- slides to be processed
- archives
Note: 25% of collection is oversized
Action: Betty will monitor time/person hours/processing time. In the summer when the information desk is less busy, perhaps a cataloguer could work with Ruth Lamb, Special Collections to get the Dendy Collection catalogued.
Review of Michele's report with questions, clarification, and ideas.
