  1. Approval of Agenda
    Agenda was revised

  2. Chair's Comments
    • Brent Hall, Assoc. Dean of Computing in Environment Studies gave Richard a draft spreadsheet of what MAD (Mapping Analysis and Design) have determined to be the computing needs for the Cambridge School of Architecture.  Richard distributed this spreadsheet to the Committee.

    • Architecture Selection Committee
Dennis Huber confirmed that Michele Laing will be the library's representative.

    • Siena College
Michele sent the committee a building program from Siena College, which resembles the "Opening Day Scenario".

    • LBPC Meeting on May 21
Richard has been invited to attend this meeting to update LBPC and discuss what impact the new architecture library will have on the UW Library.

    • Brief to Architect
A Report to the Architects for the Dana Porter Library, dated December 1962, was found and circulated among the committee members.  After it is reviewed Cheryl will send it to Jane Britton to include in the University Archives.

  3. Review of Services
The committee started to review Richard's list of services, but decided that time would be better spent creating a list of projects, which will have to be implemented shortly, in preparation for Richard's attendance at LBPC on Tuesday.

Projects necessary to prepare for the opening of the school of architecture library:

    • Rebinding project (Dana Porter &  Annex material) (binding costs)
    • Cataloguing the remaining Dendy items (1800 books + serials) (cataloguing staff)
    • Special collection materials moving to Cambridge need to be pulled from the shelves and the location changed (staff)
    • Cost of acid-free dummies, reshifting the special collection stacks, special packing and moving costs (staff)
    • Mark will need to go through the process of establishing a new location on TRELLIS
    • Catalogue Thesis currently stored in the School of Architecture (1997-present).
    • Building plans need to be catalogued
    • Video tapes currently stored in the School of Architecture need to catalogued
    • Hiring of slide curator - to get a heads up on cataloguing, organizing, remounting, etc. (staff)
    • Removal of material, spine labels, packing, moving (staff, materials)
    • Web presence for the new library (co-op student)
    • Ordering duplicate material

Some questions were raised, which the committee felt that LBPC should address:
    • Why is the Archival material not going to the Rare Book Room at Cambridge and what happens to new gifts of archival architectural material?
    • What will happen to Michele’s liaison responsibilities for the Fine Arts Department?
